What Your Miami Moving Quote Includes

Florida law is specific about what a written estimate must show. Under Florida Statute 507.05 an intrastate mover has to give you the company name, phone number and physical business address, the date the estimate was prepared, your pickup and delivery addresses, and an itemized breakdown of every charge. Ours covers all of it:

    • Crew size and truck size assigned to your move
    • Loading, transport, and unloading, itemized separately
    • Furniture disassembly and reassembly, blankets, shrink wrap, floor protection
    • Stair carries, long carries, elevator time, and a shuttle if your street cannot take a 26-foot truck
    • Packing and unpacking labor plus materials, if you want us handling boxes
    • Storage in transit, with the facility address listed
    • Valuation coverage options above the Florida minimum of 60 cents per pound per article
    • The total, in writing, before anything is loaded

Miami Moving Cost by Home Size in 2026

Most people asking how much movers cost in Miami want a number before they pick up the phone. Here is what the South Florida market currently runs for a full-service local move. Treat these as planning ranges, not our rates: your actual Miami moving quote is built from your inventory and access.

Home sizeTypical local Miami moveUsual crew
    Studio$320 – $6002 movers
    1 bedroom$410 – $8502 movers
    2 bedroom$610 – $1,4002 – 3 movers
    3 bedroom$1,300 – $2,0003 movers
    4 bedroom$1,480 – $3,0003 – 4 movers
    5+ bedroom$2,230 – $4,0004+ movers
Typical 2026 South Florida market ranges for a full-service local move. Your written quote may land below these numbers.

What pushes a Miami moving cost up is rarely the furniture. It is stairs, an elevator shared with the whole building, a truck that cannot park within 75 feet of the door, professional packing, and moving in the last three days of the month. Want to model it yourself first? Start with our Miami moving cost calculator, then send the form above for a real number.

Packing service included in a Miami moving quote
Professional packing is usually the largest optional line on a Miami moving quote.

Hourly Crew Rates vs a Flat-Rate Miami Moving Quote

South Florida movers quote two very different ways, and the difference decides whether your move-day bill matches your estimate.

    • Hourly. Around Miami you will see roughly $135 an hour for a two-mover crew, $180 for three, and $225 for four, usually with a three-hour minimum plus a travel or truck fee. Cheap on paper, open-ended in practice: every slow elevator is on your tab.
    • Flat rate. One price for the whole job, based on inventory and access. If the elevator jams or the 826 is ugly, that is our problem, not a new line on your invoice.

We quote flat rate on purpose. See how we price local moving in Miami, packing services, storage, and commercial and office moves.

    Long-Distance Quotes Leaving Miami

Leaving Florida changes the math. Interstate moves are priced on weight and mileage instead of hours, and the mover needs federal operating authority, not just a state registration. Current market ranges on the lanes we run most:

    Route from MiamiDistanceTypical full-service rangeTransit
    Miami to Atlanta, GA664 mi$1,480 – $8,2761 – 6 days
    Miami to Nashville, TN913 mi$1,946 – $8,0672 – 7 days
    Miami to New York City, NY1,284 mi$2,187 – $8,7682 – 7 days
    Miami to Chicago, IL1,381 mi$2,489 – $10,3343 – 8 days
Ranges swing on shipment weight, packing, and season. A written quote narrows it to one number.

More on how we handle out-of-state jobs is on our long distance moving page, and the lane we run most often has its own page: Miami to Nashville movers.

What Moves the Number on Your Miami Moving Quote

Two households with identical furniture can get quotes hundreds of dollars apart, and almost none of that gap is the furniture. These are the eight things that actually decide what your Miami moving quote comes back at, roughly in order of impact:

    1. Volume, not room count. A minimalist three bedroom can weigh less than a packed one bedroom. We quote on inventory, so a garage full of tools or a closet of books changes the truck and crew we assign.
    2. Access at both ends. Ground floor with a driveway is the cheapest move in Miami. A fourth-floor walk-up in Little Havana is the most expensive version of the exact same load.
    3. Elevator sharing. A reserved freight elevator is fine. An unreserved passenger elevator shared with 200 neighbors can add two hours to a job.
    4. Parking distance. Anything past about 75 feet from door to truck becomes a long carry, and a street that cannot take a 26-foot box truck becomes a shuttle.
    5. Packing. Full professional packing is usually the single largest optional line on a Miami moving quote. Packing yourself is the fastest way to cut the price.
    6. Date. Peak summer weekends and the first and last three days of any month cost real money. Same job, different Tuesday, different price.
    7. Specialty items. Pianos, gun safes, pool tables, aquariums, marble tops, and oversized art need extra crew, equipment, and sometimes a third-party rigger.
    8. Distance and destination rules. Inside Miami-Dade it is mileage and time. Crossing state lines shifts the whole pricing model to weight and mileage.

Extra Fees That Should Never Be a Surprise

Hidden fees are the number one complaint in this industry, and the reason Florida rewrote its moving law. Here is what these charges typically run in South Florida, so you can check any Miami moving quote you receive against the market, including ours.

ChargeTypical South Florida amountWhen it applies
    Stair carry$50 – $75 per flightWalk-ups and townhomes
    Elevator use$50 – $100Condos and high-rises
Long carry$75 – $150Over about 75 feet door to truck
    Shuttle truck$200 – $400Narrow or restricted streets
Specialty item handling$150 – $600 per itemPiano, safe, pool table, aquarium
    Packing materials$100 – $800Boxes, paper, wardrobe cartons

On a flat-rate job these are quoted up front and folded into one number. If a competing Miami moving quote leaves them off entirely, that is not a lower price, it is an incomplete estimate.

High rise condo move in Brickell Miami
High-rise buildings change what goes into a Miami moving quote: COI, elevator window, loading dock.

Why a Miami Move Is Not Like Any Other Move

    Condo COIs and elevator windows

Most Brickell, Downtown, Aventura, and Sunny Isles buildings will turn a truck away without a certificate of insurance on file first. Brickell Heights, for one, requires the COI 48 hours ahead and limits moves to weekdays between 9am and 4pm. A Coconut Grove association we work with wants three days notice plus $1 million general liability naming the association. We handle the COI paperwork and book the freight elevator as part of your quote, which is why we ask for the building name up front.

    Parking, permits, and truck restrictions

Miami-Dade bans commercial vehicles over 20 feet long or 8 feet tall from residential streets except for a one-hour loading window per day, with fines climbing from $500 to $2,500. Miami Beach requires a freight loading zone permit for trucks over 10,000 pounds. Coral Gables will not let pickups sit on the street overnight. On tight streets in Little Havana or the Grove we plan a shuttle instead of eating a $500 ticket.

    Hurricane season and heat

Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and August through October is when a named storm can move your date. We build a backup window into summer bookings and start early to keep crews and your furniture out of the worst afternoon heat.

Neighborhood Notes That Change a Miami Moving Quote

    Brickell, Downtown, and Edgewater

Tower territory, and the strictest paperwork in the county. Expect a certificate of insurance filed 48 to 72 hours ahead, a two to four hour freight elevator window, weekdays only in many buildings, and a loading dock shared with deliveries. Book the elevator before you book the movers. See our Brickell movers page.

Miami Beach, Surfside, and Sunny Isles Beach

Causeway traffic, metered loading zones, and trucks over 10,000 pounds needing a city freight loading permit. Beach and island moves usually start early to beat both the heat and parking enforcement. Details on our Miami Beach movers page.

Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and Little Havana

Beautiful streets, difficult truck access. Banyan canopy, narrow one-ways, historic districts, and Coral Gables rules that keep commercial vehicles off residential streets overnight. This is shuttle country, and we would rather price that in than surprise you with it. See Coral Gables movers and Coconut Grove movers.

    Doral, Kendall, Pinecrest, and Homestead

Mostly single-family and townhome moves with driveways, which is the friendliest scenario for a Miami moving quote. The variables here are gated community access hours, guard house check-in, and HOA rules about weekend moves. Our Doral and Kendall pages have more.

    Broward: Fort Lauderdale to Miramar

We cross the county line daily. Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Davie, Plantation, and Miramar all sit inside our local rate zone, so a Miami to Broward move is still quoted as a local job rather than long distance.

Verify Any Mover Before You Accept a Miami Moving Quote

Florida tightened its moving law on July 1, 2024, and holding a customer’s goods hostage is now a third-degree felony. Two minutes of checking protects you from the operators that make this industry look bad. Do this with every quote you collect, including ours:

    • Confirm the Florida intrastate registration, shown as Fla. IM No., on the FDACS moving companies register. It must appear on the truck doors and on your estimate.
    • For interstate moves, look up the USDOT and MC numbers on FMCSA Protect Your Move and read the safety record.
    • Check what an estimate legally must contain in Florida Statute 507.05 before you sign anything.
    • Never sign a blank or undated contract, and never accept a quote that will not put the total in writing.

The Cheapest Time to Book a Miami Move

Timing moves the price on a Miami moving quote more than almost anything else you control.

    • Cheapest: January and February, plus November. Mid-month, between the 10th and the 20th. Tuesday through Thursday.
    • Most expensive: late May through early September, and the first or last three days of any month. July 1 is the single busiest moving date of the year.
    • Book ahead: six to eight weeks in summer, three to four weeks off-season. Snowbird season adds its own crunch October through December and again in April.

How Our Miami Moving Quote Process Works

    1. You send the form. Addresses, date, home size, and access details. Two minutes.
    2. We build the inventory. From your description, a quick call, or a video walkthrough on your phone for larger homes. Nobody has to take a day off work for an in-home survey.
    3. We check the buildings. COI requirements, elevator windows, gate hours, and street access at both ends, before pricing.
    4. You get the written estimate. Itemized and dated, with our name, address, and phone on it, the way Florida law requires.
    5. You lock the date. The flat rate holds. Nothing changes unless you add items or services.

    Miami Moving Quote FAQ

How fast will I get my Miami moving quote?

Same day for most requests sent during business hours, usually within an hour. Larger homes, office moves, and long-distance jobs sometimes need a quick call or a video walkthrough before we commit to a flat rate.

    Is the estimate really free?

Yes. There is no charge and no obligation for a Miami moving quote, whether you book with us or use it to compare against another mover.

How much do movers cost in Miami for a 2 bedroom?

A two-bedroom local move in Miami typically lands between $610 and $1,400 depending on stairs, elevator access, parking distance, and whether you want us to pack. Your written quote gives you one number instead of a range.

Can I get a Miami moving quote without an in-home visit?

Yes. For most homes the form plus a short call is enough. For four bedrooms and up, or anything with specialty items, we ask for a quick video walkthrough so the flat rate is built on what is actually there.

How many quotes should I get?

Three Miami moving quotes is the standard advice, and it is good advice. Compare them line by line rather than on the bottom number, and be suspicious of any bid far below the others. That gap usually gets filled back in on move day.

Is a written estimate binding in Florida?

Florida requires the total in writing before loading, and since July 2024 only the registered mover, not a broker, may issue a binding cost estimate. Our flat rate is the price you pay for the job as quoted.

Will the flat rate change on move day?

Not unless you add items or services that were not on the inventory we quoted. That is exactly why we ask detailed questions up front instead of guessing.

Do you quote condo and high-rise moves?

Constantly. Tell us the building name and we confirm the COI requirements and elevator window before sending the price, so your reservation is not the thing that derails the day.

Do you quote pianos, safes, and pool tables?

Yes, as a separate line so you can see the cost. Tell us the type of piano or the weight of the safe and which floor it sits on, and we price the crew and equipment it actually needs.

Do you quote packing and supplies separately?

Yes, packing labor and materials are itemized so you can see exactly what that portion costs and decide whether to pack yourself. Details are on our packing services page.

What happens if my closing date slips?

Miami closings move all the time. We reschedule where the calendar allows, and can quote short-term storage in transit so your belongings get handled once instead of twice.

Do you serve Broward as well as Miami-Dade?

Yes. Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Davie, and Plantation are all in our regular service area and are quoted at local rates.

What information should I have ready?

For a same-day Miami moving quote: both addresses, your target date and any flexibility, the number of bedrooms, floor and elevator situation at each end, anything oversized like a piano or gun safe, and whether you need storage between dates.

    Miami Moving Quote Checklist

Run every Miami moving quote you receive through this list before you sign anything. It takes five minutes, and it is the difference between a real estimate and a guess dressed up as one.

    • Is the total in writing, dated, itemized, and signed?
    • Does the Miami moving quote show the company name, physical business address, and phone number?
    • Is the Florida IM registration number on the estimate and verifiable at FDACS?
    • For an out-of-state move, are the USDOT and MC numbers listed?
    • Are stairs, elevators, long carries, and shuttle needs priced rather than left blank?
    • Does it name the storage facility if your goods will sit anywhere overnight?
    • Is valuation coverage explained above the 60 cents per pound Florida minimum?
    • Is the deposit reasonable and refundable, with the cancellation policy in writing?

Ours passes all eight. If a competing Miami moving quote does not, you have your answer.

Furniture placed in a Miami home after the move
Placement and reassembly are part of your Miami moving quote, not an add-on billed after the fact.
